Higgins aka Everhill's Higgins Evgen came to Antwerp on 30 April 2011. I flew up to Stockholm that day to collect him from his breeder. In all honesty I should have demanded my money back and returned without him as he was sorely underweight and much too small for a borzoi of 11 weeks of age, but I decided that I would not come back empty handed and brought him home with me.

After building him up and finally getting him up to borzoi size and weight I started to show him and he has been quite successful in the ring, he has attained to date 3 CAC's and 3 BOS's, just one more to go and this at a CACIB show and he will be Belgian Champion.

He has turned out to be a lovely and very loving dog.

Going back to his and half a dozen other dogs treatment in Sweden, his breeder got away with a slap on the wrist and that was that as far as the SKK was concerned and now she breeds Beaucerons.

Late at night on the 5th August 2016 Higgins was taken violently ill,, throwing up and diahorea both bloody. I took him very early the next morning to my vet. She put him on a drip and took his temperature it was 40.2C. He had to stay there in the clinic. I phoned at lunch time and his temperature was lower, he was sitting up and was alert. At 3.30?in the afternoon the vet phoned me to tell me that Higgins was detirorating very quickly, his temperature was sky high and he was having epileptic fits. By the time I got there Higgins had died in the vets arms.

He is still very sorely missed.

Some men from a gardening firm had sprayed the hedges on the other side of the road with a weed killer called Round Up and they did not have the decency to warn people about this. They say that it is harmless for animals. My vet disputes this and says that 1 in 3 dogs can have a fatal reaction to this stuff if they lick anything which has had this product on it. 

I have made a complaint to the police and it is now in the hands of the prosecutors
